Post-Publication Discussion

MUMTAZ : Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam strongly values open, constructive, and ongoing scholarly dialogue following the formal publication of an article. This Post-Publication Discussion policy is designed to facilitate academic exchanges, critical commentaries, reader responses, and scientific corrections concerning published works, thereby maintaining the validity and advancement of research in Islamic Religious Education and Islamic Studies.

1. Purpose of Post-Publication Discussion

Pre-publication peer review cannot completely eliminate ongoing academic debates. Post-publication discussion serves to:

  • Provide a platform for readers, researchers, and scholars to offer constructive critiques, methodological inquiries, or alternative perspectives on published articles;
  • Enable original authors to present clarifications, rebuttals, or supporting arguments regarding their work;
  • Ensure scientific transparency and continuous improvement of the literature published in MUMTAZ : Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam.

2. Submission of Comments and Responses

Scholars and researchers wishing to submit academic commentaries on published articles must adhere to the following procedure:

  1. Written Submission: Comments must be prepared as concise, objective academic essays supported by appropriate scholarly evidence.
  2. Official Channel: Submissions should be sent via email to the journal's editorial office at [email protected] with the email subject: [Post-Publication Discussion] - [Title of the Discussed Article].
  3. Author Right of Reply: The Editorial Board will share submitted comments with the original authors, granting them an adequate opportunity to formulate a formal response or clarification.

3. Editorial Evaluation and Review Process

All submitted comments and author responses will undergo editorial screening. If deemed to meet academic quality standards, relevance, and civility, the Editorial Board may publish them as:

  • Letters to the Editor & Author Responses linked directly to the original article's webpage; or
  • As a separate Scholarly Commentary Article in a subsequent journal issue.

4. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

Should post-publication discussions or internal inquiries reveal material errors, data inaccuracies, or severe publication ethics breaches in a published article, the Editorial Board will take corrective measures aligned with COPE guidelines:

Action Type Description & Implementation
Corrigendum / Erratum Published to correct minor, unintentional errors or administrative mistakes that do not alter the overall conclusions of the study.
Expression of Concern Issued if editors hold serious reservations regarding the validity of published findings while institutional investigations are pending.
Retraction Published in cases of severe ethical violations, including major plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication. Retraction notices are permanently linked to the original paper.

5. Code of Conduct for Discussion

All participants engaging in post-publication discussions must maintain professional academic etiquette:

  • Prioritize objectivity, rational scientific reasoning, and scholarly politeness;
  • Strictly avoid personal attacks, derogatory remarks, or abusive language;
