Abstract

Qur’anic Character Education is a process of personality formation based on the noble values of the Qur’an, emphasizing moral, spiritual, and ethical development. This study aims to analyze the role and implementation of Qur’anic character education as an effort to cultivate Islamic values among university students. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach through literature review and observation of Islamic higher education practices, this study explores how Qur’anic values are internalized within academic and social settings. The findings reveal that Qur’anic character education significantly contributes to shaping students with integrity, religiosity, and noble morals. Qur’anic values such as honesty (ṣidq), responsibility (mas’ūliyyah), trustworthiness (amānah), and compassion (raḥmah) are internalized through learning processes, habitual activities, and exemplary role models within the university environment. The implementation involves integrating Qur’anic values into the curriculum, religious programs, and leadership practices among lecturers and administrators. Furthermore, Qur’anic character education serves as a means of cultivating Islamic culture reflected in student behavior, academic ethics, and social interactions. Supporting factors include a religious campus environment, institutional policies, and the active role of student Islamic organizations. In contrast, the challenges come from global cultural influences, value secularization, and the lack of integration between general and religious education. Thus, Qur’anic character education is not merely a moral teaching tool but also a cultural strategy to build an Islamic academic ecosystem. This effort is expected to produce Qur’anic-minded students who think with knowledge, act with morality, and contribute to the advancement of Islamic civilization and the nation.
