The family environment plays an important role in supporting children’s literacy development through various activities and interactions between parents and children. However, home literacy practices still need to be strengthened, particularly in terms of creating a supportive literacy environment and encouraging parental involvement in shared reading activities. This community service program aimed to strengthen home literacy practices through parental assistance in creating a literacy-supportive environment and engaging in literacy activities appropriate to children’s needs. The program employed a participatory approach. Data were collected using a checklist consisting of 14 indicators of literacy practices involving 22 participants. The results showed increased implementation across most indicators. The average percentage of implementation increased from 79% in the pre-test to 98% in the post-test, representing an increase of 19 percentage points. The greatest improvement was observed in arranging a comfortable reading corner, which increased from 27% to 86%, followed by providing books appropriate to children’s age and interests, from 59% to 100%, and discussing books with children after reading, from 64% to 100%. These findings indicate a positive change in participants’ home literacy practices following the assistance program.
