This study aims to describe the implementation of the market place activity method in improving students’ learning participation in Islamic Religious Education learning. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kunir, involving Islamic Religious Education teachers and students as the research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and method triangulation. The results showed that the implementation of the market place activity method was able to improve students’ learning participation in the Islamic Religious Education learning process. Students became more active in discussions, asking questions, expressing opinions, and collaborating in groups. In addition, this method created an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere that increased students’ enthusiasm and engagement during the learning process. However, several obstacles were found in its implementation, such as limited time allocation and differences in students’ communication skills. The implications of this study indicate that the market place activity method can be used as an innovative learning strategy to improve students’ learning participation in Islamic Religious Education learning. Therefore, teachers are expected to develop more active, collaborative, and student-centered learning to make the learning process more effective and meaningful. This study also contributes to the development of collaborative active learning strategies to improve students’ participation in Islamic Religious Education learning.
