The decline in the national marriage rate reflects changing perceptions of long-term commitment among younger generations, particularly Generation Z Muslim women. This shift is closely associated with the growing fear-of-marriage narrative on social media, especially on the X platform, where content related to domestic conflict, infidelity, divorce, and relationship violence is widely circulated. This study aims to identify the internal and external factors contributing to fear of marriage among Generation Z Muslim women who actively use X and to formulate coping strategies from psychological and Islamic perspectives. This qualitative study employed a field research approach. Primary data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 19 respondents, six of whom were selected through purposive sampling for in-depth analysis. Secondary data were obtained from journals, books, and official documents. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that fear of marriage arises from family trauma, doubts about personal readiness, social pressure, and repeated exposure to negative marital content. X’s algorithm further reinforces these fears by prioritizing viral content about domestic problems. Therefore, trauma recovery, digital literacy, and Islamic marriage education are needed to reconstruct marriage as a path toward a sakinah family rather than a threat.
