Speaking skills are an essential aspect of early childhood language development, as they support children's ability to communicate, think, and interact socially. However, these skills have not yet developed optimally due to the limited use of engaging and interactive learning media. This study aimed to examine the effect of Big Book Pictures and Texts on the speaking skills of children aged 5–6 years at Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Islamiyah Al-Yatimie Medan. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 17 children selected through the total sampling technique. Data were collected through observation using an assessment sheet and documentation and were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the paired-samples t-test with IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results showed that the mean speaking skill score increased from 13.52 (48%) in the pretest to 21.05 (75%) in the posttest. The paired-samples t-test yielded t = −20.629 with p < .05, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, Big Book Pictures and Texts had a significant positive effect on improving the speaking skills of children aged 5–6 years.
