Abstract

Spent coffee grounds from coffee stalls in Klungkung Village, Jember Regency, a robusta-producing area, have been discarded without treatment, and no spatial information on their sources was available. This community service program aimed to improve community understanding of spent coffee grounds as a raw material for oral health products, strengthen village youths’ skills in participatory mapping, and map the sources of robusta spent coffee grounds. A participatory approach was applied in five stages: coordination, socialization, training, field survey, and map development with evaluation. Participants comprised 23 members of the Women Farmers Group, young women, and village youth, including eight members of the youth community service group (Abdimas) trained to use the GPS Map Camera application. Data were collected through observation, short interviews, documentation, and coordinate recording, then analyzed descriptively and spatially using Microsoft Excel and QGIS, with source and technique triangulation. Participants actively discussed processing, legality, and marketing, while the trained youths were able to record and verify coordinates. Five coffee stalls were identified as potential sources, four of which disposed of the grounds with household waste. The resulting distribution map provides a basis for raw material inventory, collection route planning, and circular-economy-based community empowerment.
